Class 1 Key Concepts Practise at Home.

The new Primary Curriculum is now explicit that the re-reading of books should be actively encouraged. Re-reading a book helps with both confidence and fluency so don’t worry if your child chooses, or is given, the same book several times.

The website Oxford Owl contains many of the reading books we send home and is an excellent free resource. It also contains a very helpful section for parents.

This is just a sample of what it offers.

If you haven’t had a look at it yet, I would strongly recommend it.

Maths and Literacy Years 1 and 2

The new curriculum is very ‘number facts’ and grammar heavy, so the more practise the better! Here is a reminder of the website Activelearn that you can use at home to practise key skills in maths, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

If you’ve forgotten your child’s login details, I can give them to you.

This site includes maths, spelling, grammar and punctuation activities that I’ve selected, based on what we are learning about and any specific needs. I am able to check your child’s progress through the various levels.

A copy of this letter will be posted on our Class 1 website so you can easily click on the links.
