Sports Day 2018
19th June 2018
The children started off the afternoon reflecting on the school games values. We listened to 6 children from Class 2 and 3 who helped explain some of the values that we hope to see in sporting activity. Shortly after, we had a short flag parade so that everyone could see which team we were in.
Our first event was the scooterboard/egg and spoon obstacle race for KS2 and the egg and spoon for KS1. We had originally planned to use sacks but the grass was a bit too slippery! While this was going on, Miss Walker and Mr Johnson led the Javelin/Shot Put throwing competition.
Our second event was the shuttle run and while some people competed in this, other children completed the standing long jump. We then moved into our two key stage mixed age equipment relays and our sprint races.
Finally, we rounded off the afternoon with two whole school mixed aged relays and then completed a long distance race. It was lovely to also see so many young children taking part in this year's toddlers race!
Congratulations to the green team who won this year's sports day by scoring more point overall than the blue team (last year's winners) and the red team. They all looked so proud of their medals and achievement. Congratulations to children in the other teams for upholding the school games values so well.
Thank you to: the PTFA for organising the refreshments, all of the parents for attending, the children for competing so well and all of the staff members for their hard work.
