British Science Week

17th March 2017
We've been celebrating British Science Week in our assemblies this week. We've seen a different experiment each day and found out lots of interesting things.

In Friday's experiment, we found out that Mentos have thousands of tiny pits on their surface and that this provides a nucleation site perfect for carbon dioxide bubbles in diet cola to form. This rises quickly to the surface of the liquid and combined with the mints sinking to the bottom means that the gas pushes all of the liquid up and out of the bottle.
